I MADE MY BID, AND ON THE SPOT
BOUGHT LOVE AND FAITH AND A WHOLE JOB LOT.

THE PURCHASE PRICE WAS PRETTY SMALL.
I BOUGHT A SINGLE TRUSTING HEART,
THAT GAVE DEVOTION FROM THE START.

AT TRACK TOWN TERRIERS OUR PRIMARY OBJECTIVE IS TO PROMOTE APPRECIATION FOR AND A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF OUR WONDERFUL RUSSELL TERRIER BREED. THIS WEBSITE IS DEDICATED TOWARD ACHIEVING THAT GOAL.
Track Town (Russell) Terriers takes its name from our hometown of Eugene Oregon, aka Track Town USA, home of historic Hayward Field and host to many of the nation’s largest and most recognizable Track and Field events.
Only within recent years have we been showing and occasionally breeding Russell Terriers. That said, we began showing in AKC sanctioned events in the late 1960’s—at the time with Quibbletown/Cavalier Great Pyrenees. A career move placed us in close proximity to New York and the prestigious annual Westminster Kennel Club dog show. In February of 1973, Ross experienced the high honor of handling our then class entry (later Ch. Cavalier’s Sir Lancelot) in the working group—following a breed win over specials including a five-time Best in Show winner.
Plans to develop our own breeding program were set aside when Ross accepted a commission as a Foreign Service Officer and Eileen resumed her prior career as a Foreign Service Communications officer. For the next twenty-eight years Ross & Eileen would serve in American embassies abroad including postings in Tel Aviv, Israel; Mexico City; La Paz, Bolivia; and several African capitals. Practical considerations of international travel and frequent assignments to tropical locations would inform our transition away from giant heavy coated breeds. Having previously owned Border Terriers we chose to revert to these little dogs with giant personalities—and subsequently we added a Jack Russell. One or the other would accompany us throughout the remainder of our careers.
